We Just Launched a GitHub AI Skills Directory — Here's What's In It
Why GitHub?
When we started DiscoverAISkills, most of the best AI agent skills were scattered across GitHub repos with no central place to discover them. You had to know the right search terms, follow the right people on X, or stumble across a Reddit thread.
We've been cataloging GitHub-hosted skills since the beginning — but today we're giving them their own dedicated home: /github-skills.

What's on the Page
The GitHub Skills page is a curated directory of the most-starred, most-used open-source AI agent skills on GitHub. Every entry includes:
- Star count — so you can see what the community has validated
- Install command — copy-paste ready
- Platform compatibility — which AI tools it works with (Claude Code, Cursor, Gemini CLI, etc.)
- Direct GitHub link — one click to the source
- Full detail page — deeper description, alternatives, and context
Right now the page features 8 hand-curated highlights plus a live grid of every GitHub-hosted skill in our database, sorted by star count.

The Top 8 (And Why They Matter)
1. Claude-Mem — 73.9K Stars
The runaway hit of 2025. Persistent memory for Claude Code — it captures your coding sessions, compresses them with AI, and injects relevant context back into future sessions. Went from 0 to 70K stars in four days. That's how badly developers wanted this.
2. Oh My OpenAgent — 56.7K Stars
A universal TUI for orchestrating Claude, Gemini, OpenAI, and more from a single terminal interface. Smart routing, session management, developer-first design.
3. Claude Code Agents & Workflows — 35K Stars

4. NanoClaw — 28.7K Stars
Connects your AI to WhatsApp, Telegram, Slack, Discord, and Gmail. Containerized for security, built on Anthropic's Agents SDK.
5. Awesome Agent Skills — 20.9K Stars

Why Open-Source Skills Are the Future
Three things make GitHub-hosted skills different from proprietary plugins:
Transparency. Every instruction the AI receives is in a plain SKILL.md file you can read, audit, and modify. No black boxes, no hidden prompts.
Portability. The same skill works across Claude Code, Cursor, Gemini CLI, OpenClaw, and 30+ AI tools. The Agent Skills standard is open — write once, use everywhere.
Community maintenance. Skills on GitHub get bug fixes, improvements, and new features from the community. No vendor lock-in, no subscriptions, no deprecation risk.

How to Install Any GitHub Skill
- Find the skill on the GitHub Skills page or directly on GitHub
- Clone or download the skill folder
- Place it in
~/.claude/skills/for personal use, or/ .claude/skills/for project-specific use/ - Restart your AI client
That's it. No package manager, no API keys (unless the skill calls an external service), no configuration files.
